An enthusiastic snowboarder having a great time.

The cold never bothered Elsa, and it doesn’t bother a mountain lover like you either! A true mountain lover sees each excursion as a unique opportunity – a chance to answer that inner calling. Of course, each excursion takes preparation. You don’t want to charge into the backcountry without the things you’ll need. So, please keep the following things in mind when you are packing for your next trip!

 Skincare essentials

When you’re up in the snow-capped mountains, the general weather conditions are entirely different from what you’re probably used to. Walking through the slopes can make your skin feel super dry and dehydrated. If you don’t pack accordingly, you’re just signing yourself up for dry, cracked, and chapped lips (as well as hands and feet). This isn’t just due to the cold – it is also due to the sun as well. This means you’ll want to make sure you’re stocked up on all the essentials, such as:

  • moisturizing sunscreen
  • lip balm with SPF
  • body cream
  • hand cream
  • face moisturizer.

 Proper Attire

What you wear on a ski trip is just as important as the board beneath your feet. To avoid having a lousy trip, make sure you’ve layered up… really well! The base layer should be waterproof and moisture-wicking because your body sweats – even when it is extremely cold! The base layer works like a second layer of skin. It keeps moisture away and regulates your body temperature.

Additionally, keep an extra pair of fleece pants to keep your legs warm. You also need some snowboard-specific socks—these will keep your feet warmer compared to regular thermal socks. If the weather gets too stormy, donning a neck gaiter/balaclava or some thermal undergarments could give you the extra support that you need.

Snowboard

Skiing and snowboarding are excellent exercises – especially if you want to beat the winter blues while burning off some holiday pounds. When you escape to the mountains, the unique setting and activity will help improve your body strength, your balance, and your posture. And, I think we’d agree… it’s far better than hitting a crowded gym! It helps you connect with nature. You’ll be taking in a generous amount of crisp mountain air. So, make sure you have a durable snowboard before you head out on the slopes.

We highly recommend you invest some time in choosing the right board for yourself, based on your tastes, your snowboarding style, your budget, and any other requirements you may have. Make sure you invest in a snowboard that strikes the right balance between durability, weight, and stability. Also, make sure you get something that is fun to ride!
