Back/Slash 2.0 – Reimagined by a Rider, Shaper, and Eternal Tinkerer

Back/Slash 2.0 – Reimagined by a Rider, Shaper, and Eternal Tinkerer

At Telos, we’ve always believed that snowboarding should feel effortless. That feeling when your board reads your mind, grips when you demand it, floats when you need it, and disappears underfoot so you can focus on the line ahead.

For Eric Luthardt, our long-time shaper and the original mind behind the Back/Slash, that’s not just philosophy—it’s personal.

The Board That Changed It All

When Eric first shaped the Back/Slash, it wasn’t just to add another deck to the lineup. It was a rebellion against cookie-cutter boards that told you how to ride, rather than letting you ride the way you want.

“Back in ‘86, I started snowboarding on a bent piece of plexiglass my brothers made,” Eric recalls. “From day one, I was just as obsessed with how boards were made as I was with riding them. That hasn’t changed.”

The original Back/Slash was born from his love of powder shapes that could still hold their own on hardpack. It was designed to unlock surfy turns, cat track slashes, and deep carves without needing a helicopter drop to justify it. And for many riders—including Eric himself—it became their everyday board of choice.

So Why Change It?

True to the Telos way, evolution never stops. Eric and the team wanted to keep the soul of the Back/Slash alive while pushing its versatility, performance, and aesthetic to a place no other board dared go.

Here’s what’s new:

🔹 RAD Bumps – Small outer radii added to the sidecut, enhancing edge hold on hardpack and ice without dictating your ride. Subtle in feel, powerful in grip.

🔹 Redesigned Nose & Tail – The nose has more surface area for effortless float and a fresh, automotive-inspired silhouette drawn from Speed Racer and the Torino of Eric’s childhood memories. The tail gained length, width, and a new double swallowtail profile. More stability, more freestyle potential, more pure fun.

🔹 Refined Camber & Core Tech – Slight camber tweaks give it stronger pop with full-foot engagement, while the new D3O material in the nose absorbs chatter at speed yet vanishes during slow, playful turns.

🔹 Timeless Soul, Modern Edge – “I just wanted a board that didn’t get in the way,” Eric explains. “Something that lets you push harder, carve deeper, and ride faster without thinking twice.”

Built for Riders Who Want It All

Who’s the Back/Slash for? According to Eric:

“It’s for anyone who wants to do everything. Pow slashes, deep carves, quick turns, park hits—without your board telling you no. It’s my first board of choice every day.”

And that says everything. Because when a board is designed by someone who rides with relentless curiosity and lifelong passion, it shows. The Back/Slash isn’t just a snowboard. It’s an open invitation to ride the way you want to ride, every single day.
